Chen Si’an is a playwright, short story writer, theatre director, and translator based between Shanghai and Beijing. Her award-winning plays, including Be Seen, A Counterfeit Life, and Dreams of the Ordinary, have been performed at major theatres and festivals in China and abroad. She has published four short story collections, and her works have been translated into multiple languages. As a translator, she has introduced authors like Patti Smith and Ayad Akhtar to Chinese readers. Chen is the founder and artistic director of the Sound and Fury Festival, supporting emerging Chinese playwrights through international collaboration.
