Sao Sreymao (b. 1986, Thai-Cambodian border refugee camp) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Cambodia. A graduate of Phare Ponleu Selpak’s Visual and Applied Arts School ,she works across painting, digital drawing, photography, sculpture, and performance. Her practice investigates memory, personal history, and the evolving physical and emotional landscapes of communities. Collaboration is central to her approach, particularly with writers and fellow artists, and she regularly contributes to visual storytelling projects, publications, and community-based initiatives. Sreymao’s recent solo exhibitions include The Breath-Through the Sea at Vila Sul Goethe- Institut, Brazil (2025); Breathing Thread at Pteas Chas, Phnom Penh (2023); and Samput Sor at Silapak Trotchaek Pneik by YK Art House, Phnom Penh (2022). Her ongoing body of work, Under the Water, has been exhibited in Cambodia, Nepal, and internationally. Her work has been featured widely in exhibitions and performances across Germany, France, Singapore, the United States, Indonesia, Australia, and beyond.
